January 2025 Horoscope: A New Year A Fresh Slate

I have just completed the 2025 horoscope and will have my February horoscope before the end of January. This is a good time to look back on the month and see all the lessons that we learned along the way.

Mars Retrograde 

 Ok let's get right to it, here is a bit of recap. The New year has kicked off with Mars in Retrograde That started on December 6th 2024 and will last until February 28th 2025. Mars retrograde has forced us to reassess all things Mars; Our drive, our energy levels, our anger, impatience, how we assert ourselves, our desires and goals.

It can delay these things as well as slow them down. I for one have run into countless obstacles when attempting to get anything off the ground. It is best not to act impulsive or reckless under a retrograde as you may regret it later.

Mars Opposite Pluto

On January 3rd 2025 Mars is opposite Pluto and it could feel that others are getting in the way of our power or trying to overpower us or it could be us that is trying to overpower others. The key here is to find a balance between your desires and the desires of humanity. Sometimes we have to recognize that in order to get what we want we have to be aware of the whole as well.

Sun Sextiles Saturn

The Sun sextiles Saturn and this presents opportunities, ideas and motivation to work on building the type of future that we would like to see. We have additional practical reason, long term perspective and self discipline to make this happen. We may feel a bit solitary and we have to guard against being a bit too hard on ourselves.

Mercury squares Neptune

On January 6th Mercury the planet of the mind and communication is a challenging aspect to Neptune the planet of dreams and illusions. During this time we have to be extra careful what we say and be discriminating when analyzing things, because the mind can be more prone to perceiving illusions or just what we want to see. Double check anything important and you may need to work harder on clarifying your thoughts.

Our speech can be more compassionate, loving and kind than usual as the Neptune influence opens us to the boundless nature of the universe and we have heightened empathy and psychic sensitivity to others. In other words we get intuitive hunches about things.

This is also a great time for creative writing, art, music, dance, spiritual practice, charitable work or writing about these things.

Full Moon in Cancer

There is a Full Moon in Cancer on January 14th. This Full Moon is a completion of whatever was started on the New Moon July 5th 2024. Over the next two weeks we will become aware of our need for safety, security, nurturing, healing, our emotional depths, intuition and ancestry. We will have to balance our private life (Cancer) with the demands of the transiting Sun in Capricorn, which represents our public life and career.

Sun Conjunct Pluto

The Sun (illumination) conjuncts Pluto (transformation, shadow and power). This transit could have us question the meaning and purpose behind things. Traditionally in Greek mythology Pluto represents the god Hades who ruled the underworld. There could be a spotlight on the underworld and our hidden emotions that we find shameful, that we fear and that we keep buried way deep down. Yet when we shine a light on the darkness it disappears.

When we don't navigate this transit successfully we can become power hungry, ruthless, obsessed, feel isolated, paranoid or even victimized. Things can get very black or white and we may want to get revenge. 

Mars Sextile Uranus

Mars retrograde sextile Uranus The planet of action and aggression is moving a bit slower than usual and more careful in its action. So even though a supportive sextile from Uranus could bring flashes of insight and does not want to have any constraints, we may be a bit more cautious about how we assert ourselves and express this energy.

At best it can bring a more excitable energy where we feel motivated to make some changes and shake up the status quo in a way. It could also make some people act in a sexually impulsive way or even violently. It can be a very self centered energy focused on one's own personal freedom.

Venus Trine Mars

On January 25th The planet of love and creativity flows harmoniously with the planet of desire and adventure. This creates a wonderful time for romantic dates, displays of passion, expressing your feelings, taking action on some creative pursuit and getting your point across in relationships.

We could be more sexually magnetic at this time and alluring. We know more clearly what we want in relationships and are more apt to go after it. With both Venus and Mars in Water signs what we want is most likely on a deeper emotional level. We can be more empathetic and understanding than usual and able to sense on an intuitive level the needs of a partner.

We have to watch out for being passive aggressive or pushy in relationships to get what we want. 

New Moon in Aquarius

January 29th there is a New moon in Aquarius representing a new beginning in the direction of invention, originality, group connections, truth telling, networking and out of the box thinking. Aquarius wants to be part of the group but also retain their individuality.

 It is a sign that breaks the rules and goes against the grain. When I say rules I mean cultural and social rules, the kind that can keep us from being our true selves.

Over the next two weeks we will have a chance to plant seeds of revolution, innovation, authenticity and truth. It is a fresh new start and the beginning of a new cycle. With the Sun in Aquarius trine to Jupiter in Gemini combined within this New Moon this can mean a boost of positive feelings and confidence can come when we network and share our wild ideas and thoughts with others.

Venus Conjunct Neptune

On January 31st Venus the planet of love and relationships will join Neptune the planet of idealism and limitlessness, bringing a dreamy, magical and compassionate energy to relationships. We are perhaps more empathetic and open to others than usual. We could have an intuitive sense of what is going on with those around us.

It can be a time of forgiveness, kindness and unconditional love quite romantic. Yet we also are maybe prone to deception and seeing life through rose petaled glasses.

This can be a great time for anything artistic or creative getting out in nature or any spiritual practice.

Careful with your money as you maybe prone to purchasing something that you regret later or not seeing clearly with your finances.
